Hull Condition Inspections

Our highly trained and experienced dive crew’s are carrying out inspections and surveys on all types of commercial and military vessels under the observation of all the major class societies in various locations throughout Australia and the south Pacific. CDS is equipped with the ability to mobilise dive crew’s all over Australia and internationally with equipment transportation taken care of with our custom purpose built freight containers, designed and built especially for cost efficient road and air freight.

Our in water hull inspection service is typically conducted whilst the vessel is in harbour at berth - using the highest quality underwater video and still camera systems, the latest underwater LED lighting technology along with live feeds being recorded and transmitted to the surface in real time on closed circuit monitors.

Hull inspections can be undertaken through the use of either ROV’s (Remote Observation Vehicles) which is a diver-less operation, or through the deployment of qualified commercial divers with hand-held equipment.

Commercial Diving Services has developed a custom report formulated from over 50 years in the industry, specifically designed for supplying vessel owners and charters with the most accurate information relating to the current condition of submerged hull areas on their vessels.

Video footage is captured in a digital format which ensures no degradation of the original source footage and provides clients with rapid delivery in various formats including DVD. Still photography is also captured during the inspection and a CD provided, Also if required still photographs can be downloaded onto the ship’s computer for immediate viewing.

Sea Chest Maintenance

This critical underwater intake  area requires constant care and upkeep to ensure a free flow of sea water. Commercial Diving Services has significant experience in cleaning, maintenance and repairs of this area.

Hull Thickness Gauging

Using state of the art technology through the SYGNUS double- echo thickness gauging instrument.  Commercial Diving Services is able to establish the thickness of various metals under the surface of the water, i.e. ships hulls, submerged pipe lines etc..

Under water doubler-plate (patch) and crack repairs

Commercial Diving Services offers the choice of either under-water wet welding or high powered ‘rare-earth’ magnets dependant upon the specific jobs requirements.  Commercial Diving Services underwater team consist of qualified Boilermakers with specialist skills and knowledge in under-water welding and fabrication.

Magnetic Particle Crack Testing (NDT)

Commercial Diving Services use the Birns Magnetic Particle UV illuminated under-water crack testing system.

Emergency Mobile Dive Crew

Commercial Diving Services have developed a compact, light-weight  response unit for underwater deployment in Australia and the Asia pacific basin which can be mobilised at short notice.  The equipment is state of the art and light-weight enabling it to be loaded on board small charter jets or helicopters.

Commercial Diving Services can repair existing or replace unserviceable guards through the deployment of underwater divers with welding equipment or other solutions as required.

Ships anchor and main chain location and/or recovery
