Commercial Barge Hire

We provide commercial barge hire and have a number of modular road transportable barges available. There are two modular lengths to choose from with common widths providing flexibility in road transport. Our barges can be transported on either low loader semi trailer or flat deck trucks and their sizes are suited for wide load transport (not oversize). All barges are built to 3.25m widths and either 6.0m or 12.0m long.

Once the barges have been trucked to site a crane is required for unloading and assembling. The barges are bolted together with custom fabricated brackets. Barges feature flat decks with square ends suitable for sheltered water use. Being ‘dumb’ barges they have no means of self propulsion through the water and must be either pushed into position using a suitable boat or connected by wires or ropes to anchors for manoeuvring.

12.0m single barge – The total weight required to fully immerse one 12m barge is 28 tons including its 9.0 ton gross weight, and allowing for 60% free board total allowable load 19 ton per single 12m barge.

6.0m single barge – The total weight required to fully immerse one 6.0m barge is 19ton including its 5.0ton gross weight, and allowing for 60% free board total allowable load 8ton per single 6.0m barge.
